A verdict has been delivered against Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former Chief of the Presidential Administration, at the Baku Court on Grave Crimes, APA reports.
The verdict was announced by the judicial panel during proceedings presided over by Judge Murad Aslanov.
Under the court's verdict, Ramiz Mehdiyev has been sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment.
However, taking into account his age and his state of health—specifically his existing medical conditions—the court ruled, pursuant to Article 70 of the Criminal Code, that the prison sentence shall be a suspended sentence.
The verdict also includes a decision to submit a formal request to consider stripping Ramiz Mehdiyev of his state awards.
Furthermore, the verdict mandates the confiscation of Ramiz Mehdiyev’s assets, transferring them to the state.
Remind that a criminal case was initiated against Ramiz Mehdiyev by the State Security Service in October 2025.
Ramiz Mehdiyev has been charged under Articles 193-1.3.2 (legalization of property obtained through criminal means), 274 (high treason), and 278.1 (actions aimed at the violent seizure of power or the violent alteration of the state's constitutional order) of the Criminal Code.
Ramiz Mehdiyev served as the Head of the Presidential Administration from 1995 to 2019.
