“Without adequately assessing the risks caused by climate change, we will not be able to effectively fight this problem,” said Ahmet Levent Yener, the Program Leader for the Human Development Practice Group in the South Caucasus of the World Bank, APA reports.
He expressed his hopefulness that COP29 will take on the role of an effective forum for combating the risks of air pollution.
“UN member states should ensure the development of climate change risk assessment mechanisms as soon as possible. Because we will not be able to effectively fight climate change without adequately assessing the risks. I believe that the prestigious COP29 climate conference to be held in Baku will be a convenient international platform for finding ways to tackle the risks of climate change and atmospheric pollution in general. Of course, the role of human development should also be mentioned here.”
