A conference on "Multilateral dialogue on the Platform of Local Communities and Local Ethnic Groups" was held in Baku within the framework of COP29, APA reports.
According to the report, consultation circles were organized within the framework of the conference. In total, 5 circles were organized, including 2 English-speaking, 1 French-speaking, 1 Russian-speaking and 1 Spanish-speaking. The main goal of the dialogues was to expand relations between local communities and ethnic groups, support substantive exchanges aimed at the participation of indigenous peoples and local communities in the design and implementation of climate actions at all levels, and help develop climate change policies and measures that promote a holistic approach based on their knowledge and experiences.
Then, reports from the consultations were heard. During the dialogue, possible ways to incorporate the results of the discussions into the current work plan and the next work plan of the Platform for Local Communities and Local Ethnic Groups were discussed.
