“In 2023, the 36 gigawatts of environmentally friendly electricity produced in the U.S., meaning green energy, was sufficient to supply power to over 20 million homes,” John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President Joseph Biden for International Climate Policy said during his speech at COP29, APA reports.
He added that progress has been made in reducing carbon emissions within the U.S. economy over four years: “Last week, presidential elections were held in the U.S., yet today, the U.S. delegation is here to take action in the fight against climate change. We have something to say. As the U.S., we expect tangible results from this event in the coming weeks. Over the past four years, progress has been achieved in reducing carbon emissions within the U.S. economy. I hope we will continue to work toward regulating carbon emissions and ensure that people live in healthier conditions.”
