Baku-APA. Engine failure was the likely cause of last week’s Russian military plane crash in Ukraine, preliminary investigation results suggest, APA reports quoting.

Interfax-Ukraine news agency quoted investigators as saying that the catastrophic failure of the engine may have caused the Be-12 plane to veer out of control and crash.

But they also stressed that the preliminary results may be different from the final ones..

The aircraft of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet crashed during its landing at the Kacha airfield in Crimea Peninsula of Ukraine on Oct. 12, killing three on board. The wireless operator was the only person survived the ordeal.

The aging plane had been in service for over 30 years.
