Baku-APA. The results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia are difficult to predict, says the advisor of the Institute of Human Rights, a former member of Parliament Silver Meikar, APA reports quoting gergiaonline.ge website.

In an interview with news program of Vikerraadio Meikar said that judging by the polls, the forces are roughly equal, and it is possible that the losing party will bring supporters into the streets.

"No one can predict exactly what will be the results. If we recall the case a week ago - the election in Belarus - there was not much to observe in the sense that it was known how everything would end." he said.

Mikheil Saakashvili’s ruling party faces serious competition from the opposition alliance led by billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili.
According to Meiker, the mission of observers is to make sure that election process is transparent.

"Of course, both sides want to win and our job as observer is to see whether the elections are free and fair." he stressed.

Meiker also noted that in Georgia there was a strong polarization of the parties, the locals are very strongly supporting either one or the other party.

That is why, according to the observer, it is possible that this election will lead to riot.

"Free and fair elections are taking place. If the opposition loses, the question is whether the people, who think that, change is necessary, peacefully accept the results and wait for the next opportunity, or they will take to the streets to express their opinions." said Silver Meikar.
