"Russia has requested a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine in response to an initiative by Western diplomats to hold a meeting on this topic on February 24," stated the First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyansky, APA reports citing TASS.

"February has begun and our Chinese colleagues have taken the helm of the Security Council for this month. We wish them a successful presidency of the Council, and are confident in their wisdom and endurance, which are necessary for the high-quality implementation of this function.

Meanwhile, our Western colleagues, of course, do not want the world to forget about Ukraine.

Already in the first days, they requested a meeting on February 24 on the 3rd anniversary of the beginning of the Joint Security Council (they, of course, call it something else). We did not remain in debt and immediately requested a meeting on February 17 in connection with the 10th anniversary of the adoption of Security Council Resolution 2202, which approved the Minsk package of measures," the diplomat wrote in his Telegram channel.
