Baku-APA. Ismail Haneya, premier of Hamas government that rules the Gaza Strip, said Friday there are no Hamas militants fighting against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad' s forces, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
"What some Arab mass media says that there are Hamas fighters fighting in Syria or elsewhere in the world is totally untrue, but we condemn the brutality of the Syrian regime practiced against the Syrian people," said Haneya.
Hamas had completely ended its presence in Syria two years ago right after the Syrian unrest broke out. All its politburo members led by Hamas chief Khaled Meshal then moved to settle in Qatar or Egypt.
Haneya's remarks were made to prayers at a mosque in southern Gaza Strip's town of Rafah, shortly before he heads to Egypt to hold talks with the Egyptians on the internal Palestinian reconciliation.
