Many peoples, including Azerbaijanis, are systematically subjected to discrimination in Russia on the basis of their ethnic and religious affiliation, and their fundamental rights are being violated. We deeply experience this pain through the example of our own family. On June 27, 2025, my three brothers and several close relatives living in the city of Yekaterinburg were subjected to an unjustified attack by Russian law enforcement agencies, Seyfaddin Huseynli, Chairman of the Center for Cultural and Ethnic Diversity, said at the international conference titled "Cultural and Ethnic Diversity: Lessons of History, Modern Challenges" held in Shusha, APA reports.

Seyfaddin Huseynli stated that officers of Russian law enforcement agencies carried out a sudden raid on their homes: "They were subjected to unbearable torture and suffering in front of their family members, including women and children. My two brothers – Huseyn Safarov and Ziyaddin Safarov – were tortured to death. My other brother, Bakir Safarov, along with Ayaz, Akif, Kamal Safarov and others, are still being held in custody in the city of Yekaterinburg. Show trials have been staged against them, and groundless sentences of 10 to 20 years of imprisonment have been handed down. We believe that cultural and ethnic diversity and tolerance should be an asset for every state, and discrimination based on ethnic and religious affiliation should be rejected."
