The authorities of the Syrian Government have released a large group of citizens detained during the security forces' operation to restore stability in the city of Homs (160 km from Damascus) after the unrest there in late December, according to a source in the provincial Directorate of General Security, APA reports citing Al Watan newspaper.
"360 people who participated in the riots but were not involved in war crimes against the population during the rule of ex-President Bashar al-Assad have been released," he said.
"This decision was made after a preliminary investigation, and those released pledged not to take any hostile actions against the new Syrian administration."
