A phone conversation took place between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
During the call, which took place at the initiative of the Iranian side, Russia welcomed the announcement of agreements on a two-week cessation of hostilities between the United States and Iran, as well as Israel’s joining of these agreements.
It was emphasized that Moscow firmly believes the agreements announced through Pakistani mediation have a regional dimension and also apply, in particular, to Lebanon.
“Sergey Lavrov expressed hope for the success of the negotiation process and confirmed Russia’s readiness to assist in finding solutions that would eliminate the consequences of US–Israel aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran and ensure long-term peace and sustainable security in the region.
During the discussion of the situation in the Persian Gulf, Araghchi thanked the Russian Federation for its principled position in the UN Security Council,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on the phone call.
