“During the latest attack, some military bases were used. Of course, as we had openly warned in advance, without carrying out direct aggression against those countries, we targeted only those bases," said Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Supreme Leader of Iran, in his first address to the nation, APA reports.

He noted that from now on, they will forcibly strike military bases in neighboring countries: “We still believe that friendship with our neighbors is necessary.”

Khamenei called on those countries to clarify their positions regarding those who attacked Iran and recommended that the military bases be closed as soon as possible.

Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has delivered his first address to the nation, APA reports.

His message was released in written form.

Khamenei stated that the Strait of Hormuz should remain closed.

He said that “the closure of the Strait of Hormuz should continue as a means of exerting pressure on the enemy.”

Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei will deliver his first address to the nation in the coming minutes after being elected as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, APA reports, citing Iranian media.

The format of the address has not been disclosed.

“The first message of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei will be broadcast in a few minutes,” the report said.

It was noted that in his address, Khamenei will touch upon the role of the country’s leadership, the people, executive authorities and the armed forces, as well as relations with regional countries and the “fight against enemies.”
