Due to sandstorms and air pollution, government offices, banks, and educational institutions have been closed in several provinces of Iran, APA reports citing IRNA.

According to the report, sandstorms and air pollution have negatively affected life in some southwestern provinces of the country. Due to the high levels of dust in the air and the resulting pollution, all levels of official offices, banks, and educational institutions have been closed in the provinces of Lorestan, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and Bushehr, where nuclear power plants are located.

It has been stated that in these provinces, lessons will continue in online format.

In Khuzestan province, which borders Iraq and the Gulf countries, sandstorms have caused disruptions in flights, with three flights delayed in Ahvaz city. It has been emphasized that eight flights have been postponed until further notice due to adverse weather conditions.

It was noted that storms and heavy rains are expected in 22 provinces, including Tehran.

Due to polluted air, schools have also been suspended in the provinces of Zanjan and Hamedan.

Note that strong sandstorms are being observed in Gulf countries including Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. In Iraq, sandstorms have caused respiratory problems in nearly 3,000 people.
