Baku. Konul Jafarli – APA. On February 6, the Iranian government announced that the network cooperating with the Persian service of the BBC was exposed. APA reports quoting “Mehr” news agency that the names of arrested people have not been announced yet. They reportedly transferred secret information to the BBC, prepared news and reports in exchange for a large sum of money. They reportedly trained reporters for the BBC and offered conditions for journalists undergoing the pressures of regime to leave the country.

BBC Director General Mark Thompson said that none of the reporters of the Persian service work in Iran. He said the Iranian government is putting pressure on the family members of the reporters who still live inside the country.
After the controversial presidential elections in Iran in 2009, the BBC Persian service was banned in the country.
