Week of Egyptian Films opens in Baku

Baku. Ulkar Gasimova – APA. The opening ceremony of the Week of Egyptian Films was held in Azerbaijan Cinematographers Union on December 21, APA reports. Director Egypt Cultural Center in Azerbaijan Adil Dervish said such events play great role in the expansion of the cultural relations between the two countries. He said the Week of Films is supported by Arab Republic of Egypt and Culture and Tourism Ministry and will last till December 25.
“Cinema is a means to bring people closer and gain mutual practice. It is also a means of self-expression. About 3000 films have been made by Egypt up to now. Egyptian films have special place in the world. The films that will be demonstrated today are modern films and won in various international festivals in Cairo,” he said.

Ambassador of Egypt to Azerbaijan Sabir Abdulgadir Mansur said he is proud of opening the Week of Egyptian Films in Azerbaijan.
“Egyptian cinema is over 100 years old. The aim of such events is to acquaint Azerbaijani audience with the Egyptian culture. Such events play great role in the development of cultural relations between the two countries,” he said.

Director of State Film Fund, honored art figure Jamil Guliyev appreciated the week of Egyptian Films in Baku.
