Azerbaijani pianist takes 4th place in International Piano Festival in Gabala

Gabala. Shahnezer Bashirov – APA. The international piano competition held within the framework of the International Music Festival in Gabala with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation ended. APA’s local bureau reports that the final stage of the competition was held on August 19. Five pianists from Azerbaijan, Russia, Croatia and Japan competed in the final.
Russian pianist Ilya Maksimov won Grand Prix. The jury consisting of the specialists from Azerbaijan, US, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Russia gave the 1st place to Goran Filipets (Croatia), 2nd place to Alexander Yakovlev (Russia), 4th place to Togrul Huseynli (Azerbaijan) and 5th place to Shimomura Misako (Japan). None of the participants took the 3rd place. Art director of the music festival Farhad Badalbayli and head of the jury Oksana Yablonskaya declared the results. Nargiz Kangarli (Azerbaijan) and Natalia Landfed (USA) won prize for performing best the work by Azerbaijani composer. They will get their prizes on August 20.
22 pianists from various countries participated in the competition, 7 of them were Azerbaijanis.
The winner of the piano competition will get AZN 10,000. The person taking the 2nd place will get AZN 5000 and the person taking the 3rd place will get AZN 3000.
The musicians represented in the jury of the Piano Competition will give a concert on August 20. Mugham evening will be organized on August 21.
Solemn closing ceremony of the festival will be held on August 22.
