US removed Syria from its list of state sponsors of terrorism

The U.S. administration has removed Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, and the Syrian group Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham has been removed from the State Department and Treasury Department's lists of terrorist organizations. This was reported by the Treasury Department's press service.

"Consistent with President [US Donald] Trump's pledge to ease sanctions on Syria, the State Department today removed Syria from the list of country sponsors of terrorism. <...>
The State Department removed al-Nusra Front, also known as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, from the list of <...> global terrorist organizations," the document notes. In addition, the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control removed HTS from its blacklist.
