Inventories in the manufacturing and trade sectors in the United States increased by 2.1% in December 2021 compared to the previous month to stand at $2.2 trillion, according to a report by the US Census Bureau released on Wednesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
The figure was 10.5% higher on a yearly basis.
The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers' shipments in December 2021 was estimated at $1.72 trillion, declining 0.7% from November 2021 but jumping 15.9% year-over-year.
The ratio between business inventories and sales was 1.29 at the end of December 2021, down from 1.35 recorded 12 months earlier.
