US President Donald Trump made the remarks while commenting on Ukraine's request for additional missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
Trump said Washington must take into account its own military stockpiles and national security requirements.
He noted that although the United States is rapidly increasing munitions production, inventories of certain weapons, including missiles for the Patriot system, remain limited. According to Trump, the shortage affects both military assistance to Ukraine and the US ability to meet its defense commitments in other regions.
At the same time, the US administration continues to discuss options for strengthening Ukraine's air defense. Among the proposals under consideration are producing Patriot missiles in Ukraine or carrying out final assembly in Germany.
However, the implementation of such projects is expected to take at least one year.
