US President Donald Trump confirmed that Tulsi Gabbard is leaving her post as US Director of National Intelligence, APA reports.
"Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her," the US chief of staff wrote on his Truth Social page, commenting on the news of Gabbard's upcoming resignation. "Unfortunately, <...> Tulsi Gabbard is leaving the [US] administration on June 30th," the White House chief noted. He mentioned that she made this decision in response to her husband's recent cancer diagnosis. Gabbard's top deputy, Aaron Lucas, will serve as acting Director of National Intelligence, the president clarified.
He also published the text of Gabbard's resignation letter, dated May 22. In it, Gabbard states that she "must step down from public service" to fully support her husband during his initial treatment. She also promised to ensure a "smooth and thorough" transition.
