Moscow is carefully examining the US proposals on a summit between the Russian and American presidents, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Wednesday, APA reports citing Sputnik.
Ryabkov told reporters that Moscow is always open to dialogue and believes that such a meeting is crucial both politically and diplomatically.
Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had discussed how to organise a Biden-Putin meeting over the phone.
Biden said last week that a tentative meeting between him and Putin is being arranged for June.
The White House has recently announced that Biden invited Putin to meet in a European country. Earlier in May, Biden said that he was hoping to meet with Putin in June. The Kremlin reported that a possible date for the meeting is being discussed.
