Some members of the US Republican Party have begun discussing the party's future after Donald Trump following its defeat in the November 3 midterm elections, APA reports, citing Politico.
According to the report, during informal discussions within the party, some Republican leaders have blamed Trump for the election losses.
Several party representatives have emphasized the importance of attracting support from moderate voters to achieve success in future elections.
"Trump has done a lot of good things, but the party cannot remain Trump's party forever," said Jonathan Fletcher, former chairman of the Republican Party in Gaston County.
In his view, the party's future success will depend on its ability to win the support of voters closer to the political center.
Senator John Curtis of Utah also described the election results as a warning sign for the party.
He urged Republicans to examine the reasons behind their defeat, saying that simply blaming the media would not solve the party's problems.
