United States National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said on Wednesday that Washington "obviously" has "concerns about any burgeoning defense relationship" between North Korea and Russia following the meeting of the two countries' leaders Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Kirby stressed that the US is still waiting to see the outcome of the Putin-Kim meeting but reiterated that, if it results in any kind of arms deal, Washington will "deal with it appropriately" and stressed Pyongyang will face "repercussions" if it provides Moscow with weapons for its war in Ukraine.
The official also noted that any deal that would improve North Korean military capabilities would be of "significant concern" for the US.
