United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan amid Hamas attacks on Israel, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Blinken "reiterated Israel’s right to self-defense and called for coordinated efforts to achieve an immediate halt to the violent attacks by Hamas and other militants" and the two diplomats agreed to remain in close coordination.
Meanwhile, Bin Farhan said Saudi Arabia is against the targeting of civilians "in any way," Al Jazeera reported citing a statement from the Saudi Foreign Ministry.
He called for "concerted efforts to calm the situation and avoid further violence." The US, Saudi Arabia and Israel have recently been involved in talks on Saudi's recognition of the Israeli state.
