"Climate change seriously impacts the depletion of natural resources and food security," Executive Managing Director of CGIAR, Dr. Ismahane Elouafi said during her speech at the second day of the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW), APA-Economics reports.
She noted that currently 10% of the world lives in starvation. If the temperature rises by 4%, 2 billion people may face famine.
"Water scarcity will become more severe by 2050. Water is mainly used in agriculture. Therefore, water scarcity will primarily affect agriculture," she added.
