Baku-APA. Ras El Jedir, the main border crossing between Tunisia and Libya, will reopen this week, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The control of the border post, which will reopen this week, was achieved through "negotiations" between the two countries, TAP quoted Libya’s Interior Minister Fawzy Abdel Aal as saying.

Libyan interior ministry forces have secured the Libyan side of Ras El Jedir, TAP reported.

Abdel Aal said Sunday that his country would soon deploy policemen, border guards and customs officers on its border with Tunisia.

Last week, Tunisia closed Ras El Jedir, some 180 km from the Libyan capital of Tripoli, and voiced "deep concern" over the repeated violation of its sovereignty after armed Libyans opened fire on Tunisian guards.

Tunisia also closed the Dhehiba border last Friday after armed Libyans fired at a number of Tunisian border guards, injuring at least one person.
