Baku – APA. An explosion has shaken a government-run hotel in Nigeria’s oil-rich southern Niger Delta region, APA reports quoting “The Voice of America”.
Wednesday’s blast caused no casualties, but damaged two rooms in the guest house in Asaba, the capital of Delta state.
Police are investigating.
Niger Delta militants, angry over pollution and poverty despite the region’s oil wealth, have carried out a series of pipeline attacks and kidnappings of foreign oil workers.
Much of the violence stopped after last year’s amnesty agreement between the government and militant leaders.
But a car bombing claimed by Niger Delta militants killed 10 people in Abuja last month.
