160 Azerbaijani citizens have been deported from Russia under the decision of the court and 21 under the decision of the Federal Migration Service Director from January 1 to December 5, 2013.
The service said that 36 Azerbaijani citizens were deported from the Russian Federation in September, October and November: “33 Azerbaijani citizens have been deported from Russia under the decision of the court and 3 under the decision of the Federal Migration Service Director from September 1 to November 30, 2013.”
Russian Federal Migration Service and Interior Ministry have started to implement “clean-up” operations against migrants in Moscow and other regions from summer of 2013. As a result of the operation conducted by OMON Special Purpose Mobile Unit, migrants working in markets were detained and taken to police stations. Azerbaijani citizen Orkhan Zeynalov’s being suspected of murdering 25-year-old Egor Sherbakov in Biryulyovo Vostochnoye District in October caused an increase in pressure on the Azerbaijani migrants. Following this incident, police conducted raids in the markets owned by the Azerbaijanis on a regular basis. As a result of it, the functioning of several markets owned by the Azerbaijanis was suspended.
