Former head of Azerbaijani State Flag Square Complex Department released from prison - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

During the process presided over by judge Alovsat Abbasov, attorneys in their speech sought acquittal of the defendants.

Rashad Mammadov and others called for their acquittal.

The court then paused for consultation.

After the consultation, the judges announced the verdict.

Under the verdict, Rashad Mammadov and Isfandiyar Isfandiyarov were released in the courtroom. Arzu Mammadov was freed from home arrest.

Baku. Shahriyar Alizade – APA. The Baku Court on Grave Crimes on Monday resumed the trial of Rashad Mammadov, former head of the State Flag Square Complex Department, and others.

Witness Sabina Guliyeva gave testimony at the hearing presided over by judge Alovsat Abbasov, saying she was a landscape designer at the Complex Department.

Another witness, Gunay Guliyeva, said she has worked as head of the law department.

Their testimony to investigation was announced.

Witness Samir Nasirli said he was responsible for watering mechanisms in the area.

Later on, Aghasaf Aghayev, a sector chief of the Ministry of Finance, gave testimony, saying they have inspected the State Flag Square Department on the instructions of the deputy prime minister.

“The names of some employees were in the table but with blanks. And the names of some were not there despite they were employed. So we conducted an inspection and complied an act,” he said.

Rashad Mammadov said the examination was biased.

Giving testimony as a witness, Jeyhun Jafarov said he is a lawyer and Isfandiyar Isfandiyarov asked him to review the documents on the purchase of facilities. “I reviewed the documents and gave him advices,” he said.

Then, a break was announced at the hearing.

The former head of the State Flag Square Complex Department Rashad Mammadov, as well as Isfandiyar Isfandiyarov and Arzu Mammadov were arrested on fraud charges. Zabil Salmanov, who is recognized as an aggrieved person, a while ago appealed to investigating authority, noting that he has no complaint against the accused persons.
