Baku. Vahab Rzayev – APA-Economics. A meeting with a group of older pensioners was held at the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) on the occasion of October 1 – the International Day of Older Persons. SSPF Chairman Salim Muslumov said that measures are taken to improve welfare of older persons and increase of their pensions.
He noted that these measures caused the older pensioners to receive pensions over poverty level. Currently, average monthly sum of labor pensions of such citizens for age makes
Muslumov said that 342,373 of labor pensioners in Azerbaijan are older persons. Of these, 207,269 are women, 135,104 - men. 259,724 of older pensioners are 70-80-year-old, 75,648 – 80-90-year-old, 7,001 – over 90-year-old, 923 – over 100-year-old.
