The National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told APA that heavy rain and lightning occurred in Baku as a cold front passed on the night of September 23–24, 2013.
The hydro-meteorological stations in Baku report that 30-33 mm of rain fell within 4 hours, which makes 174-192 percent of monthly norm of precipitations.
According to the long-term meteorological data, daily rainfall for September hit record high in Baku in 1980 with 46mm rainfall within 12 hours.
The highest rainfall of 82mm in Jafarkhan makes 443%, 72mm in Gazimammad 500%, 44mm in Baku 256%, 44mm in Mashdagha 196%, 35mm in Imishli and Beylagan 177% and 35mm in Terter 140% of monthly norm of precipitations from late September 22 till early September 24 in Azerbaijan.
