Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh - APA. “The recent pardon order signed by President Ilham Aliyev has been applied to 153 people,” deputy chairman of the Justice Ministry's Penitentiary Service Huseyn Alikhanov told journalists, APA reports.
Alikhanov said 55 pardon orders have been signed since 1995, these pardon orders have been applied to 5683 people.
“About 100 000 prisoners have been released basing on amnesty acts. 3000 prisoners have been recently released basing on amnesty act. 7000 prisoners have been freed from other kinds of penalties. The pardon act is being realized objectively in Azerbaijan,” he said.
Alikhanov also said smuggling of banned items into the facilities under the Penitentiary Service is prevented.
