Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “Jails in Azerbaijan are much better than in a number of European countries,” said Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) Elmira Suleymanova addressing the event on human rights at the Azerbaijani Parliament, APA reports.
She noted that the newly-opened Kurdakhani jail can serve as an example for several European countries: “I believe it is a big care for prisoners and it should be taken into account.”
Suleymanova also touched upon the detention conditions at jails: “We are regularly inspecting the detention conditions at jails. I can say that there is no problem related to detention conditions, on the contrary, the detention conditions are perfect.”
