Mazahir Aliyev noted that only hemp plants grow naturally in certain areas of Azerbaijan and sometimes individuals grow them. Head of the working group said that drugs are smuggled to Azerbaijan from various countries, mainly Iran by car through land borders and by sea.
Mazahir Aliyev said that drug abuse mainly occur in big cities of the country. He said the vast majority of registered drug addicts of Azerbaijan are living in Baku. Sumgait, Ganja and other cities are following Baku. Currently 28 000 drug addicts are registered in Azerbaijan.
