Two of the newborn triplets have died in Azerbaijan’s Salyan district. The parents said the babies, placed in a hyperbaric chamber, died as a result of oxygen deprivation caused by the power cut.  Â

Speaking to APA, Health Ministry official Safaya Mammadova said the death of two of the triplets is unrelated to the power cut and that there are generators in the intensive care and maternity wards.

She noted that that 21-year-old Abdullayeva Mirzabita gave birth to triplets in week 31 of her pregnancy at the hospital’s maternity unit at 22:15 pm.

“The weight of babies was very low. Doctors rendered intensive assistance to them. Despite the assistance, one of babies died at 01:00 am and other at 01:10 am,†the ministry official added.  Â
