Baku. Farid Mirzayev – APA. Treatment of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) is generally symptomatic. Medicines have been already stocked up for symptomatic treatment of coronavirus in the republic, Musa Jahanov, the head of the laboratory of the Republican Anti-Plague Station of the Health Ministry, told APA.
He said samples taken from patients with suspected coronavirus syndrome will be sent to the laboratory of the Republican Anti-Plague Station. “Such a case hasn’t been registered in the country so far.”
Jahanov noted that sanitary quarantine stations are operating at border-crossing points.
The signs of the MERS-CoV starts with flu-like symptoms, he noted. “Symptoms include cough, sneezing, fever, headache, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. There is no specific, distinctive sign of the disease. MERS-CoV can develop inflammation of the lungs, pneumonia.”
Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev has signed an order to strengthen preventive measures against the MERS-CoV.
