Baku – APA. “Since 2003, the youth policy in Azerbaijan has entered a new stage. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev demonstrated his exceptional attention and care for the youth by approving State Program ‘Azerbaijani youth in (2005-2009)’ and State Program ‘Azerbaijani youth in 2011-2015’”, Head of the Department for Social and Political Affairs at the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov said during the 12th Forum of the Azerbaijani Students and Alumni International Forum (ASAIF) Public Union in Baku, APA reports.

He said the head of state signed an order on April 16, 2007 to approve the State Program for study of Azerbaijani youth abroad for 2007-2015, aiming at Azerbaijani youths receiving comprehensive education, providing them continuous development, and fulfilling our country’s need for personnel that can meet modern requirements.

“The program provides the study of thousands of Azerbaijani young people abroad. Today, hundreds of Azerbaijani young people are receiving education at the world’s leading universities within the program. That proves once again that the head of state has created perfect conditions for our youth to discover their knowledge and skills, turn their potential into a reality in an effective manner, and take a worthy place in society. And of course, they must properly evaluate this trust and make an efficient use of provided conditions”.

Ali Hasanov noted that along with their education in foreign countries, the social life and organization of the Azerbaijani youth studying abroad are also priority issue for Azerbaijan. He then gave his recommendations to students studying abroad and graduates:

Today’s development of economy, establishment of new industrial and service enterprises in our country increase the need for professional young staff. Therefore, our young people should be well-educated and trained as specialists. The young people should be closely integrated into the cultural life of the countries they study in, promote Azerbaijan’s culture, history, tourism potential and the ongoing development process in the country among foreign citizens and other young people of the same ages and protect the image of Azerbaijan as a tolerant country. In this regard, our young people should prefer to learn the language of the host country and respect its cultural values. Our young people studying abroad should join a network and unite in groups in higher education institutions. Such groups should act as an integral part of ASAIF, be coordinated from a single center and focus of Diaspora and lobbying activities. Today the Republic of Azerbaijan is in its glorious and complicated period. A lot of works should be done towards protection of state independence and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, providing its territorial integrity and liberation of its occupied territories. Azerbaijani young people studying abroad and graduates should be mobilized in this regard and deliver the fair voice of Azerbaijan to the world. At every opportunity they should be engaged in fact-based promotion in universities and lecture-halls. At the same time, our young people studying abroad should gain access to the local media in the host countries, elucidate the points affecting the positive image of Azerbaijan and promote the country.
