First of all, this will lead to the reduction of the number of subjects in entrance exams. Following this, the admission to some specialties in Azerbaijani will be available without examination, only on the basis of graduation marks,” said chairperson of the State Students Admission Commission (SSAC) Maleyka Abbaszadeh in her interview with APA.

She said that in the coming years, admission to some specialties – in particular, “agriculture” will be available on the basis of the results of final exams.

According to the SSAC chairperson, these changes will be applied to graduates of that year: “It should be taken into consideration that every year 50 000 graduates from 100 000 people participating in the examination are the graduates of previous years. However, we will not be able to take into account marks of previous graduates in this process. Because their results will not correspond to the results of the current year. Therefore, graduates of previous years must pass admission exams to enter any university.”

Abbaszadeh said that graduation marks will be regularly taken into account during admission process. This process will be mainly applied in low-competitive specialties, which are needed in country’s economy: “There is a need for experts in agriculture in Azerbaijan. About 500 places on this area have been left empty this year. This is very serious shortcoming. The youth does not prefer this field. We can attract the youth to this field, only if the graduates will be admitted to the low-competitive specialties by graduation marks”.
