In connection with the amendments made to the Family Code, as many as 62,302 persons have been involved in pre-marital medical examination for HIV since June 2015. As a result, 45 people were revealed to be infected with HIV, the department head noted.
According to him, 618 people were infected with HIV in the 11 months of this year. 598 of them are Azerbaijani citizens, 20 are foreigners. 409 of them are – men and 189 – women.
Azerbaijan registered a total of 4,453 HIV carriers, Zulfugarov said, adding that 73.1 percent (3,257) are men and 26.9 percent (1,197) – women.
