"The waste exported by the Agarat copper-molybdenum plant operating in Armenia is directly discharged into the Araz River," said Mugabil Bayramov, the head of the "Azerbaijan Cartographers" Public Union, a member of the Environmental Protection First (EPF) Coalition, during today's briefing, APA reports.
M. Bayramov also spoke about the destructive impact of this factor on the Araz River basin: "About 30 non-governmental organizations representing 13 countries have announced that they have joined the Environmental Protection First coalition regarding these impacts. These organizations have sent official appeals to the government of the country and the relevant convention. It should also be noted that none of the letters sent have received a response."
