Dito Chubinidze, a journalist for the Asaval-Dasavali newspaper who is accused of treason and sabotage in Georgia, has been remanded in custody for two months, APA's local bureau reports.
The Tbilisi City Court granted the motion filed by the Prosecutor General's Office of Georgia.
Dito Chubinidze, who attended the court hearing, stated that he did not accept the charges brought against him.
It should be noted that the journalist was detained yesterday. The investigation established that since February 2026, Dito Chubinidze had systematically spread false information and disinformation through various media outlets and social platforms, claiming, based on fabricated facts, that the Georgian Prime Minister had allegedly handed over part of the Keshikchidagh (David Gareji) monastery complex to the Republic of Azerbaijan through a secret agreement with the neighboring country.
If found guilty, he faces up to four years in prison.
