A delegation led by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mazahir Panahov, has departed for a visit to the Republic of Serbia, the Media and Communications Department of the CEC Secretariat told APA.
The purpose of the visit, which is taking place at the invitation of Chairman of Serbia's Republic Electoral Commission Vladimir Dimitrijević, is to observe the snap parliamentary elections to be held in the country on October 25, as well as to expand opportunities for international cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of election administration.
During the visit, M. Panahov is expected to hold meetings with his Serbian counterpart V. Dimitrijević, other officials, as well as heads of international organizations observing the elections and electoral management bodies of foreign countries. The meetings are planned to discuss prospects for developing interagency relations, exchanging best practices in the organization and conduct of elections, and other issues of mutual interest.
In accordance with the visit program, representatives of the Central Election Commission will familiarize themselves with the pre-election preparation process in the capital, Belgrade, and observe the organization and conduct of voting at polling stations on election day.
