United States Senator for Maine Susan Collins announced on Friday that the government will ease tariffs on nine categories of Canadian products that are "crucial" to the state's industries, APA reports.
"Many of our farmers and growers rely on specialized equipment, packaging materials, and other products from Canada that are either unavailable from American suppliers or cannot be replaced without incurring significant expense," Collins said, taking credit for the move. Collins sought tariff exemptions for key products used by blueberry, potato, apple and seaweed producers, pledging to continue working with the administration to secure further relief and promote a "broader trade agreement" with Canada.
