"As a result of the shelling of densely populated Azerbaijani settlements, social, historical, cultural, and strategic facilities by heavy artillery and prohibited weapons by the Armenian armed forces from September 27, 2020, these areas were severely damaged, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries," The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva stated in the appeal to the international community, APA reports.

"As known, on the night of October 6, 2020, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Oil Pipeline, which passes through the densely populated Yevlakh region, far from the conflict zone, was also hit by cassette missiles.

Unfortunately, we state that on the night of February 1, 2022, Ismayil Mikayilov, born in 1996, engaged in agricultural activities in the Yevlakh region, died as a result of the explosion of a cluster bomb and multiple shrapnel wounds.

The civilian population is still experiencing the bitter consequences of the numerous war crimes committed by Armenia during the military operations. Armenia's refusal to provide full and accurate maps of areas contaminated with unexploded ordnance, mines, and explosive remnants of war causes more casualties and remains a serious threat to human rights.

In this regard, I call on international organizations, foreign ombudsmen, and national human rights institutions to react to the human rights violations committed by Armenia, which hinders peace in the region and to take decisive measures in accordance with the norms and principles of international law.
