Mobile teams consisting of specialists from the State Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the “Isotope” Special Combine, and the Radiation and Chemical Laboratory of the Civil Defense Troops are regularly conducting inspections using special equipment to measure radiation levels along the southern borders of the country (in 30 locations), including in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the press services of the Ministries of Emergency Situations, Ecology and Natural Resources, and Digital Development and Transport said in a joint statement, APA reports.

The statement says that during the examinations, no cases of increased natural radiation background in the environment have been recorded so far.

"In order to ensure continuous monitoring of the radiation situation across the country, including in transboundary areas, automated stations of the Environmental Monitoring Center under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources are operating in Astara, Beylagan, Zangilan, Sadarak, and other border regions. Daily observations of radiation levels are carried out through these automated stations. According to the results of current observations, no radioactive contamination has been detected in the air."

It was noted that the Nuclear Research Department of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency is conducting radiological and radioecological research in Azerbaijan’s southern border regions (Astara, Lankaran, Masalli, Jalilabad, Bilasuvar). According to the Nuclear Research Department of IDDA, measurements and analyses of the following radiological parameters in air, soil, and river water samples have been carried out in the southern border areas of the country, taking into account the safety standards and recommended documents of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Results:

* No enriched values of uranium isotopes or any artificial radionuclides were detected in air, soil, rain, and river water samples.

* Air alpha and beta activity values were not observed within the normal background.

* In auto-gamma and stationary dosimetric measurements, gamma and neutron radiation were at background levels, with no dangerous values recorded.

It was noted that the results of the ongoing examinations will be regularly communicated to the public.
