Baku – APA. “In fact, such reports must properly reflect the position of human and civil rights and freedoms in all countries and serve the protection of the rule of law. However, we must regretfully note that those, who prepared the report, set another goal by attempting to form a negative image of Azerbaijan on the basis of biased and false information. Naming Azerbaijan among the countries without any democratic signs and the countries with authoritarian regimes confirms our views,” says the statement of NGO Cooperation Alliance issued regarding the Freedom House’s report on the position of human rights in the world.
According to the statement, Azerbaijan has a powerful legislative base on human and civil rights and freedoms, democratic and civil society, social parties and non-governmental organizations, print, electronic and internet media are free.
NGO Cooperation Alliance bringing together more than 50 non-governmental organizations, considers that the report of the Freedom House does not reflect the reality and is one-sided. We think that demonstration of double approach to the countries does not make respectful the organization calling itself an international human rights organization. “We call on the organization, which intends to evaluate human rights at the international level, to properly appreciate the situation in the countries, get information from accurate and impartial sources”, the statement says.
Note that Azerbaijan was mentioned as a non-free country in the report of the Freedom House.
