New schools opened in Azerbaijan’s quake-affected zone

Zagatala. Vugar Heydarov – APA. New schools have been opened in the quake-affected zone. APA’s Shaki-Zagatala bureau reports that Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kemaleddin Heydarov also attended the opening ceremonies.

Attending the opening ceremony of the new 500-pupil school in Danachi village of Zagatala, Minister said the old school building was built in 1924.

“250 pupils could study at the old school,” he said.
Kemaleddin Heydarov handed over the keys of 50 houses in Danachi village.
Following this, Kemaleddin Heydarov attended the opening ceremonies of 220-pupil school in Goraghan village of Gakh region, 120-pupil school in Deymedaghli village.

Two powerful quakes hit Zagatala on May 7, 2012. As a result of these quakes, more than 3 000 buildings were destroyed and damaged. The funds were allocated from the state budget to eliminate the consequences of the quake.
