Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “If Azerbaijan wants to win the war, our pupils of the 5th form must have more knowledge than the pupils of the 5th form of the neighboring country. Unfortunately, we don’t see it in reality. According to the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), Azerbaijan ranks the 56th among 57 countries for the level of knowledge of 15-aged children”, said the chairperson of the State Student Admission Commission Maleyka Abbaszadeh at Baku High Oil School. She noted that a war must be declared against illiteracy, ignorance and laziness in the secondary schools.

Chairperson of the Commission said that the level of education, teachers and pupils in the secondary schools is a very serious problem: “The results of monitoring to be held in the secondary schools from this year will be submitted to head of the state and made public. Monitoring will be held in all forms beginning from the 5th. The authors do not feel well after monitoring of textbooks. After the results of the monitoring exams are released, education departments and relevant executive agencies will not feel well, either”.

Abbaszadeh stressed that the education sector in Azerbaijan was sufficiently financed: “But, there are too many problems in education. They must be resolved step-by-step, because there is a political will for it”.
