The report says that the birth rate per 1000 people rose to 19 from 13.9, while the death rate dropped from 6 to 5.3 over the last 10 years. Natural growth increased from 7.9 to 13, which is the highest among European countries.
The positive trend was observed on maternal and child health indicators, as a result of the measures implemented in the country. While the infant mortality rate was 16.7 per mille, this figure was 10.8 last year. Maternal mortality rate decreased from 18.5 to 14.9 compared to 2003.
