Committee to Protect Nigar Yagublu's Rights holds press conference - PHOTOSESSION

Baku. Etibar Mammadov – APA. The Committee to Protect the Rights of Deputy Chairperson of Musavat Youth Organization Nigar Yagublu held a press conference. APA reports that the judgment on Nigar Yagublu was discussed at the press conference. Head of the Committee, Mehriban Vazir expressed dissatisfaction with the judgment and called it an expression of the preconceived and unfair position for socially active people.

Nigar Yagublu's lawyer Adil Ismailov expressed his opinion on the court sentence, which sent her the penal colony, and explained its difference from other detention centers. “The condition in the penal colony and the regime prescribed by law is much lighter than the regime that Nigar Yagublu is being detained in. Thus in that colony the detainee is not protected and has the right to meet with anyone without any restriction. At the same time the detainee has the right to speak by phone every day and even leave not more than 12 hours within a day", he said.

Azerbaijan Popular Front Party leader Ali Karimli called the detention politically motivated.

Remind that N. Yagublu has been accused of committing car accident that resulted in death of Musavat Party member Aydin Ajalov. She was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in a penal colony by the order of Absheron District Court.
